My Arabian Dream Explained

Ever since I was about 11 or 12 years old, I’ve wanted to become one thing: an Arabian horse breeder.

Ever since I first shared that dream, I’ve been told that it’s MAD. That it’s unrealistic, too difficult, and that I’ll never actually be able to make it happen. And that is exactly where the name My Arabian Dream (MAD) comes from.

I know it won’t be easy. It will require years of hard work, learning, saving, and making sacrifices. But I don’t believe that difficult means impossible.

In five years, my goal is to own my own Arabian horse breeding farm and start breeding Arabian horses for amateur to semi-professional riders.

I want to breed horses that are incredibly healthy, kind, trainable, and great in character, horses that their owners can truly build a partnership with and enjoy for years to come.

I want to be part of making the horse world more transparent and honest. I also want to help change the negative narrative that often surrounds Arabian horses and show people what these incredible horses are really capable of.

There’s one small problem: I don’t own a farm, and I don’t have the money to simply make this dream a reality.

So I’m going to have to build it.

I’m documenting the journey from where I am now to where I want to be, including the work, the money, the mindset, the mistakes, the successes, and everything in between.

I want this journey to be useful not only to people who love Arabian horses, but also to anyone who dreams of building their own horse-related business and wants to see what it really takes to turn a dream into reality.

The Timeline

A rough breakdown of what the journey will most likely look like when only looking at big milestones.

01: One Horse

I currently have my one Arabian gelding ‘Teego’. In the next year, it will be time for him to start being ridden under saddle. For this, I will need to save money for a good saddle and to pay for the trainer I’ll work with to set him up for success.

02: Two Horses

To breed, you obviously need a mare. During this phase, I will need to earn and save enough money to be able to afford two horses.

03: Breeding

Once I own my first mare, it’s time to start saving for the costs that are associated with breeding a horse.

04: Farm

Either after or before the breeding operations start, it’s time to start looking for my own farm.

Currently Saving For

I’m currently saving for a saddle and training costs that will come around the corner when Teego is going to be backed under saddle right now. I like to over-estimate how much something’s going to cost in order to not get dissapointed or suprised.

Saddle for Teego: €200 / €1500

Trainer for Teego: €0 / €1500

I’ve debated for quite a while if I want to accept donations for this challenge. For a long time, I didn’t want to because I already have a good life and it feels wrong accepting other people’s money. However, quite a lot of people have asked me by now if there’s any way to donate because they would like to support this challenge in a different way than just engaging with the videos. Because of this, I’ve decided to put these two QR-codes here where you can decide to donate any amount of money you want. Before you donate though, I want to lay one thing out:

  • Please only donate if you are truly in a financial position where a donation doesn’t affect your life AT ALL! I don’t want anyone to buy even one less bag of pasta, toilet roll, treat or whatever because of me.
